Patna: At least 20 members of a wedding party were killed in eastern India on Tuesday when the jeep carrying them plunged into a roadside canal, an official said.
The driver of the jeep lost control while negotiating a sharp bend on the outskirts of Patna, the capital of Bihar state, the district magistrate Jitendra Singh said.
"All the bodies have been recovered and sent for autopsies," Singh said.
Deadly road accidents are common in India, often caused by overloading, aging vehicles and reckless driving.
