New Delhi: Army chief General V.K. Singh on Monday called on Defence Minister A.K. Antony to discuss defence procurements.

This was the first meeting between the two coming a week after General Singh's sensational revelation that he was offered bribe of 140 million rupees to sanction procurement of vehicles for army's use and leak of his letter to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh highlighting lack of preparedness of the defence forces.

The defence minister was to hold another round of meetings with the three service chiefs. Besides Singh, Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma and Air Force Chief N.A. K Browne were expected to attend the meeting of the Defence Acquisition Council.

While the bribery case and leak of the army chief's letter are being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Intelligence Bureau respectively, the opposition wanted that the bribery scandal should not hamper defence preparedness and procurements.

The Defence Acquisition Council is the top body of the Defence Ministry to take final decision relating to the three wings of the defence and Coast Guard.
