According to the Income Tax Department, Chadha sold liquor bottles at rates higher than the stipulated maximum retail price throughout the state and shared the money with Mayawati and other politicians of the state.

Chadha's business expanded ever since Mayawati came to power five years ago as he entered business of real estate, set up sugar mills and went into film production. He was allegedly given land in Noida by the state government at throwaway prices to set up multiplexes, commercial buildings and schools.

Mayawati, who started her life as a school teacher, is the richest politician of the country and is facing charges of amassing wealth beyond her known sources of income.
