Harshita surrenders Miss India Earth title after row over breach of contract
Harshita Saxenaon on Friday surrendered her title of Pantaloons Femina Miss India Earth and withdrew her candidature from the contest.
New Delhi: Harshita Saxenaon on Friday surrendered her title of Pantaloons Femina Miss India Earth and withdrew her candidature from the contest.
The contest had been held on April 5. Harshita was forced to give up her crown after she breached a contract with her previous modelling agency Gladrags.
"Tanvi Vyas, next on the list, would be crowned Miss India Earth next week," said Sameer Soni, national director of Femina Miss India.
Harshita was in a two-year contract with Gladrags and as per the agreement between with Gladrags she was not supposed to participate in any other contest without permission from Gladrags. "She now has won the Miss India Earth crown, which is a breach of contract," said Maureen Wadia, president of Gladrags beauty pageants.
"The organisers must be more vigilant, there should be better screening methods. I agree mistakes can happen, but I am extremely disappointed with the girl, who knew about the contract and still went ahead and participated," she said.
