Thiruvananthapuram: The father of the nine-year-old Kerala boy who drove a Ferrari and got into trouble for his bravado, is also in trouble with the state police.

Businessman Mohammad Nisham, 37, who has a fleet of luxury cars at his home in Thrissur district, has been taken into custody by police after he locked a woman sub-inspector in his Rolls Royce after the police stopped him during a routine check point suspecting him to be drunk.

The incident happened on Thursday evening near the Sakthan Thampuran bus stand in Thrissur where a vehicle check point was under progress, led by sub-inspector Devi. When police flagged his car down, Nisham initially refused to stop.

Police claim that he then went on to say that no police station in the state had the status to hold a car like his, and while the police were trying to remove the car key from him, he locked the inspector inside the car and held her hostage.

Police then called their colleagues in the control room and during discussions with Nisham, police were able to get their hands into the car and force Nisham to open the door. Charges have been made against him for preventing a police official from performing her duty and also for holding a woman officer hostage in the car.

Nisham’s family shot into the media limelight when his nine-year-old son drove a Ferrari and the video of the drive was posted on YouTube, which clocked over a million views. Police filed charges against Nisham in connection with the incident.

Police said there were other cases against the businessman, including one complaint that he had posted distasteful comments about his sister-in-law on Facebook. Nisham was taken into custody by Thrissur circle inspector TR Santosh and sub-inspector Lal Kumar. Police are also investigating the details of his luxury car imports.
