Falak's five-year-old brother located
A man from West Delhi had illegally adopted the boy as he had only daughters
New Delhi: After days of intensive search in Delhi and Bihar, the Delhi Police have finally traced battered baby Falak's five-year-old brother.
The child was recovered from Vikas Garden, Uttam Nagar, in west Delhi. He was in custody of a man named Guddu, who had allegedly "adopted" the child as he had three daughters and no son. With this, all of Munni's three children have been located.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chhaya Sharma said, "The child is safe and after his medical examination, we have put him in a children's home. He will be produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC)."
While Munni, who is staying at a shelter home in the city, will be allowed to apply for her son's custody, police said they would question Guddu in Munni's presence.
"We are yet to ascertain his role and how he adopted the child, as the adoption is without any paperwork and hence not legal. Guddu's culpability needs to be checked," said a police officer.
After a 14-year-old girl took the bruised and battered Falak to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Trauma Centre on January 18, the police have been trying to figure out why the baby was treated in such a inhuman manner.
In the process, a massive human trafficking racket was unearthed in the capital and about a dozen people arrested.
Fourth surgery done
Doctors at AIIMS have conducted another surgery on Falak to drain out fluid accumulating in her brain. It was the fourth surgery conducted on her. The baby's condition continues to remain critical and she has again been put on ventilator.
According to Dr Deepal Agrawal, assistant professor, Department of Neuro-surgery, Trauma Centre, AIIMS, "With the kind of damage the child has suffered, even if she survives, there are chances that she might not be a normal child." Falak was admitted at AIIMS with severe head injuries and both her arms broken and bite marks all over her body and cheeks.
