Devyani Rana set to marry grandson of Arjun Singh
New Delhi: Devyani Rana, whose name figured briefly following the Nepal royal massacre, is getting married next month.
Devyani, 34, is all set to tie the knot with Aishwarya Singh, grandson of India's federal minister Arjun Singh on February 23 here.
Devyani shot to fame after the 2001 royal massacre as the then crown prince Deependra shot dead his entire family apparently after his proposal to get married to Devyani was rejected by his father King Birendra.
Devyani belongs to the famous Rana family of Nepal. Ranas ruled the Himalayan Kingdom in the past and were traditional prime ministers of the royal court until 1951.
Her mother Usha Rana is the eldest of the three daughters of the erstwhile Gwalior Jivajirao Scindia and Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia.
Usha's younger sister Vasundhara Raje is chief minister of Rajasthan, while the youngest of the three, Yashodhara Raje, is tourism minister in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh.
According to family sources, the wedding will take place at the sprawling Gwalior Estate in south Delhi.
Devyani had arrived here from Nepal to escape the unwanted media attention and spend time with her maternal uncle, the then senior Congress party leader Madhavrao Scindia.
Arjun Singh himself belongs to the erstwhile princely state of Madhya Pradesh.
