Centre seeks to assure Assamese
Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahmad on Wednesday assured all support from the central government to restore calm and peace in the violence-hit districts of Assam where 49 people were killed in ethnic clashes over the weekend.
Guwahati: Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahmad on Wednesday assured all support from the central government to restore calm and peace in the violence-hit districts of Assam where 49 people were killed in ethnic clashes over the weekend.
"The central government is ready to extend whatever help is required for relief and rehabilitation, including additional security forces to restore complete peace in the area," he said.
Ahmad visited three relief camps in Darrang and Udalguri districts of Assam where three days of clashes last week claimed 49 lives.
