Education official demands police action
Patna With technology now becoming part and parcel of life, thieves in Bihar too seem to have changed their priorities and are focusing their attention on computers.
Police said in the past 24 months, thieves have stolen as many as 143 computers worth more than Rs4 million (Dh284,309) from various government schools in Bihar, badly disrupting studies. Most of the computers have been stolen from south Bihar's Gaya district.
Police have failed to make any arrest in the cases.
"It's really strange… they [the thieves] are constantly targeting our computer sets in schools meant for schoolchildren," said Binod Kumar Jha, district education officer, Gaya. "The police must identify the culprits and provide adequate security cover to the schools," he added.
