1,524-page judgment covers 8 crime scenes

Tables contain details of the deceased, injured

Mumbai: It was a meticulous step-by-step procedure to come up with the judgment.

The casualties were high, there were large amounts of arms and ammunition recovered from Ajmal Kasab and nine other deceased suspects, reams of evidence presented by 111 witnesses and tomes of documents and exhibits that were presented before the court.

The text of the judgment runs into 1,524 pages and after editing certain portions, "I had to prepare as many as 14 tables which are part of the judgment," said Special Court Judge Tahaliyani.

Table 1 contains details of places where crimes were committed — at the main railway station (Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus), Cama Hospital, Badruddin Tyabji Road, near Metro Cinema, Leopold Café, Taj Hotel, Oberoi Hotel and Nariman House.

The names of the 166 deceased persons, the places where they died and the nature of injuries they sustained were in table 2 while table 3 lists the injured in the attack. Other tables specify the list of witnesses examined by the prosecution, the names of those who took the bodies to hospitals and post-mortem details of the deceased persons who mostly succumbed to bullet wounds.
