Sydney: A Catch Me If You Can con man has been jailed in Australia after spending 40 years posing as a string of characters including a CIA agent, a pilot and even Mike Nesmith from the 60s band The Monkees.
A court in Sydney was told that Barry Faulkner, 59, had "a lengthy criminal history of fraud-related offences" stretching back four decades.
Over that time he had impersonated countless people, including a secret service agent, a US military officer and a doctor. He exploited his uncanny resemblance to Nesmith to pretend to be the Monkees star at the height of the band's fame.
Faulkner's exploits mirrored those of the American serial con man Frank Abagnale Jr, who was played by Leonardo DiCaprio, in the 2002 film Catch Me If You Can.
