Kabul: At least 10 militants were killed by US-led forces in two separate operations in southeastern Afghanistan, the US military said on Wednesday.
Five armed militants were killed in one raid on Tuesday, which targeted a senior Taliban commander in Paktia's Zormat who allegedly liaised between the Al Qaida and Taliban networks, the US military said in a statement.
The statement did not name the commander or say whether he was among the casualties.
In the other operation in neighbouring Paktika province, coalition forces killed five armed militants and detained four more.
Coalition forces had received small arms fire in both engagements, the statement said.
