Abu Dhabi: A responsible media recognising its role and mission is a key tool in countering extremism and terrorism ideas in light of the proliferation of digital media, according to His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Media is not just a profession but a sublime message, Shaikh Mohammad added.

The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince made these remarks on Wednesday as he received CEOs, directors and representatives of media organizations operating in the UAE. They came together to exchange greetings on the occasion of Ramadan.

Dr Sultan Bin Ahmad Al Jaber, Minister of State and Chairman of the National Media Council, was present.

The UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, considers the media a key partner in the comprehensive development process, Shaikh Mohammad said, fulfilling its role in promoting values of tolerance, dialogue and moderation.

Shaikh Mohammad also received at Al Bateen Palace, the Wahda football team, the winners of the UAE President Cup 2016-2017. The reception was attended by Shaikh Dhiyab Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of Wahda.

While exchanging the Ramadan greetings, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi congratulated the players, administrative and technical staff on winning the Cup, which bears the name of the UAE President. He wished them good luck in future competitions, and that “this crowning shall be the beginning of more successes in future to further promote the Emirati teams at regional and international competitions.”

The players expressed their gratitude to Shaikh Mohammad.

Shaikh Mohammad also received a delegation from the Ministry of Community Development and the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority.

Shaikh Mohammad expressed his best wishes for well-wishers, calling on them to continue their diligent work to serve the UAE under the leadership of Shaikh Khalifa.
