Dubai: Gulf News has launched a new website, Getthat.com, that combines listings for property, motors, careers and classifieds on one site, for user’s finding, buying and selling needs.

The site, which was launched on April 2, already has thousands of listings, and over two million page views.

The move aims to make finding, buying and selling anything a simpler and faster process for UAE residents.

“Decades ago, Gulf News was the first media company to revolutionise print classifieds advertising in the region and make it into a hugely successful business and become a market leader, today, we aim to repeat history once again, however, we shall do so in the digital classified field,” said Rajeev Khanna, Commercial Director at Gulf News.

The website, which is an extension of a quality classified site in digital format, will be the best place to find a job, buy a car, choose your next property or just buy and sell those everyday things we all need in life.

Khanna pointed out the site was developed following extensive feedback from the market, buyers, sellers and GN’s commercial partners who wanted a site that brings together classified advertising and sales into a website that is fast, intuitive, easy to use and that gives a great user experience.

Also commenting on the site’s development, Matthew Moore of GN Media said: “We found from talking to our audiences that there was a demand for a product that brings those important searches we make into one place, but crucially whether it is listing something to sell or looking for something, the demand is for fast, accurate results.”

He pointed out that while most people in the country live fast-paced lives, visiting several sites to meet one’s needs could take up valuable time, especially when the experience and results don’t match expectations.

Through Getthat, users will be able to create a personalised profile, which will in return provide them with listing suggestions that are compatible with their search behaviour and lifestyle.

Providing great user experience, the website will also take into account a user’s location, interests, and budget when suggesting anything from properties nearby to cars for rent. The website also provides free self-service when it comes to uploading listings and ads.

“We are also working on content that guides users on the processes and procedures of getting things done in the UAE, such as how to buy a car, or how to go about renting a property in Dubai,” said Johnathan Richards of GN Media.

He pointed out that future plans for the website also include adding advice on topics such as legal issues and employment, noting over 15,000 CV downloads on the site so far. With Dubai being such a “transient place in terms of people coming in and out of jobs”, the website is also a platform for job hunting and advertising, explained Richards.

“Whether you’re coming from outside the UAE or living inside the country, this website will be everything that you need in terms of buying or selling. It’s a site of the people, and aims to become the most trusted source of information and guide on how to live in the UAE,” he added.

The website, designed to work seamlessly with mobile devices, is also available across other platforms and devices.

Assisted by Sami the Octopus, a friendly emoticon, users will experience fast and easy navigation across the site.

“We will be looking at developing an app later in the year, with additional features such as AI, coming later,” said Richards.
