Dubai: Media reports that the Arab Fashion Week would host Dubai’s first fashion show for dwarfs are false, organisers said on Monday.

Earlier, a local English-language paper reported that the dwarf fashion show would see “15 little glamorous fashionistas” strut down the catwalk on May 20.

An earlier report in another paper said that the little models had come from New York, London and Dubai.

The reports quoted a press release from a supposed organiser, who had claimed that the dwarf fashion show would “bring back the essence” of fashion by going beyond standard heights.

Each model in the show would be less than four feet tall, the release added.

A look on the supposed organiser’s Facebook page claims that the event aims to raise “dwarfism awareness through fashion and modelling”.

The event was reported to take place in an unannounced venue at the Arab Fashion Week.

Taking place at a luxury Dubai hotel from May 16-20, more than 15,000 visitors are expected to attend 23 glamorous shows from 50 global and regional designers.

However, dwarf fashion fans are likely to be little disappointed - the show will not be among the events, according to Arab Fashion Week organisers.

“There [are] no dwarf show[s] scheduled at Arab Fashion Week,” a spokeswoman told Gulf News. “The news that were released on the web are false.”
