Al Ain: People with special needs can now explore Al Ain Zoo aboard dedicated transport that has recently been donated by a trading house.

It is a golf cart that is fully equipped to provide transport services for visitors with special needs, said a spokesperson of the zoo. He said the cart, worth Dh40,000, has been donated along with complementary maintenance service for life by First International Motor Trading.

Ebrahim Al Nuaimi, Director of Procurement and Contract at Al Ain Zoo, said a free-of-charge transport service will be offered to people with special needs inside the zoo. “Al Ain Zoo is dedicated to enhancing our offering as a special needs-friendly destination. We look forward to welcoming visitors with special needs to enjoy this free-of-charge service and to explore the zoo’s exciting experiences.” he added.

Tariq Abu Al Ela, Managing Director of First International Motor Trading, said Al Ain Zoo is not only a tourist destination but an entity that is an active ambassador in the global cause of wildlife conservation and preservation. “We appreciate their work and commitment having witnessed their efforts first-hand during our working relationship, and are proud to contribute in making the Al Ain Zoo experience just as accessible to those with special needs as to any other visitor,” he said.

The zoo has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Directorate of Rehabilitation and Employment to train and employ qualified UAE nationals with special needs. The zoo has already received a number of trainees as full-time employees.
