Dubai: The Hamdan Bin Mohammad Heritage Centre (HHC) will host a series of events to celebrate Eid Al Fitr at a number of majlis and major shopping malls across the UAE during the Eid break.

The events, to be held in 16 locations around the UAE, will showcase the traditions of the UAE and aim to promote wider community participation in the Eid celebrations.

The Eid activities, comprising traditional Arabic hospitality, will be held from 5pm-9pm while recreational workshops for children will be hosted on the sidelines of the main events. Eid Al Fitr public holidays last from Thursday to Sunday.

The majlis and malls that will host Eid events in Dubai include Mirdif City Centre, Deira City Centre, Mall of the Emirates, The Dubai Mall, Dubai Festival City Mall, Majlis Al Fahidi, Majlis Jumeirah, Rashidiya Majlis and Family Forum.

In Abu Dhabi, the Eid events will be held at Yas Mall; in Sharjah the events will be held at Gharayen Stores; in Fujairah at City Centre Fujairah; in Ras Al Khaimah at Al Manar Mall; in Umm Al Quwain at Al Manama Supermarket; in Al Ain at Bawadi Mall, and in Ajman the events will be held at City Centre Ajman.

The celebrations will include a variety of cultural and entertainment activities, with Emirati folk performances taking centre stage. The folk troupes taking part include Al Ayalah, Liwa, Al Harbiya and Al Haban. Visitors can also experience authentic Emirati hospitality, such as traditional Arabian coffee, sweets and dates, while children can look forward to receiving eidiya (money given during Eid).

Ebrahim Abdul Rahim, Director, Events Department at HHC, said: “Out of our keenness to organise events in the largest number of sites across the UAE and due to the involvement of specialised centres such as the ‘Family Forum Centre’, this year we have made sure that the joy of Eid will be spread to a larger audience than ever before.”
