Dubai: Put on weight during the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF)? You can burn off the extra pounds at The Weight Loss Show, a health camp to be held during the last two days (February 1-2) of the festival.

Organisers expect more than 10,000 people to attend the health and fitness event, taking place at the Dubai International Marine Club in Mina Seyahi from 10am to 7pm.

Entrance is free and the event will showcase “innovative weight loss solutions — from the latest workout demos and fitness equipment to expert lectures and advice on nutrition, supplements and weight management,” said a statement from the media centre of DSF organisers, Depe (Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment).

Athletes and trainers can also put their fitness to test by taking part in the fitness challenge and win prizes.

The 4th Weight Loss Show is divided into five sections. The Exhibition Zone will feature 50 exhibitors covering weight loss angles. The Good Eats Zone will be about foods that are “nutritious yet delicious”, with live cooking by professional chefs as well as cooking competitions.

The Info Zone will feature a schedule of talks by health, nutrition and fitness experts in Dubai while the Fitness Zone will feature live work-out sessions and fitness classes conducted by experts in the field.

Moreover, there will also be a dedicated Kids’ Zone with games and activities that teach them about fitness and healthy habits.

“Given the high rates of adult and childhood obesity, diabetes and other lifestyle diseases, people in the UAE need to be more active and adopt healthier eating patterns in order to reverse the alarming rates of lifestyle diseases amongst the population,” said show organiser Linkviva’s events director Niousha Ehsan.

“The Weight Loss Show is the perfect opportunity for all the experts to be under one roof and educate the public about the importance of proper nutrition, exercise and overall wellness.”
