Al Ain: The Red Arrows, the famous British aerobatic display team, will perform at the 10th Al Ain Aerobatic Show, the organisers of the show announced on Wednesday.

The show coincides with the UAE’s 42nd National Day weekend and world famous aerobatic teams will be performing their best stunts to enthral visitors, according to the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi).

The city will see a blur of red from November 30 to December 2 as the UK’s famous Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team provides a final push to its 49th display season before stepping into a historic golden jubilee year in 2014, said Sultan Al Muhairi, general co-ordinator for the Al Ain Aerobatic Show 2013.

The Red Arrows will skim low, trailing the team’s trademark red, white and blue vapour streaks over the desert skies, he said. Since its formation in 1965, The Red Arrows team has flown in over 4,500 displays in 54 countries. The team is renowned worldwide, acting as ambassadors for Great Britain when displaying overseas.

Jim Turner, The Red Arrows team Squadron Leader, said: “Our objective is to enthral, captivate and inspire millions of people both in the UK and around the world with a series of displays and flypasts at a wide variety of events.”

The team is excited that it is finishing the 2013 season in Al Ain, he said. “We love to fly over the desert which provides us such scenic views and always enjoy the excitement we produce when performing our display routines here,” said Turner.

The team has performed in the past in the UAE, drawing huge crowds. Squadron Leader Turner himself spent three years in the Middle East until 2010 teaching the Royal Saudi Air Force Aerobatic Team and acting as its official adviser.

This year’s Al Ain Aerobatic Show, organised in conjunction with the UAE Air Force, will pay tribute to the rich Emirati culture and heritage with a series of UAE-themed aerial displays and static attractions, performances and activities.

Already four elite military teams and seven daredevil pilots from three continents have confirmed their participation for the aerobatics show which organisers say will be a total sensory upgrade with bigger seating areas, more engaging activities, superior aerial displays and much more.

Tickets for the aerobatic show are available via Ticketmaster – the show’s official ticketing partner. General admission tickets bought in advance cost Dh40 for adults and Dh20 for youths aged 12 and below.
