Al Ain: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, have performed the funeral prayer on the body of Shaikha Hessa Bint Mohammad Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, the mother of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who passed away on Sunday.
His Highness Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, His Highness Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain and Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President's Representative, as well as Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance also offered the funeral prayer.

Leaders across the nation earlier condoled the UAE President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who mourns his mother, Shaikha Hessa Bint Mohammad Al Nahyan. The Ministry of Presidential Affairs announced official mourning in the country for three days starting today.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, offered his deepest condolences.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also took to Twitter express himself.
His message, translated from Arabic, were: "We belong to God and to him we shall return. It is with great sadness and sorrow we mourn the loss of the mother of the nation Shaikha Hessa Bint Mohammad Al Nahyan. She led a path that was so full of generosity to her family and the people of the UAE and her homeland. May God's mercy and peace be upon her and may she inspire in us all patience and fortitude."

Princess Haya Bint Al Hussain, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, tweeted: Heartfelt condolences and sympathy to His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the passing of his mother, Shaikha Hessa Bint Mohammad Al Nahyan, beloved and respected across the nation. May God rest her soul."
Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and the Rulers of the Emirates, Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi of Sharjah; Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi of Ajman; Shaikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi of Fujairah; Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla of Umm Al Quwain; and Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi of Ras Al Khaimah, also mourned the death of Shaikha Hessa.
Their Highnesses extended their deep condolences to the UAE President, Shaikh Khalifa, and the entire Al Nahyan family, and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest her soul in peace.
Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah Rulers’ Courts announced a three-day mourning period. UAE flags will be flown at half-mast during this time.
