New Delhi: The UAE and India are set to sign a raft of new agreements ranging from Infrastructure investment, renewable energy and insurance to cyber security and cultural cooperation, a top Indian foreign ministry official said Wednesday.

"The visit of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to India, that begins this evening, is one of the highest level visits of the Gulf leadership to India," said Anil Wadhwa, Secretary East, Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

"This is a vital visit and will take the UAE-India relationship forward," he said.

"This is a great opportunity for both countries to take forward the comprehensive strategic partnership that the bilateral relations were elevated to during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's historic visit to the UAE in August last year," he said.

"The UAE and India have been trading partners for a very long time. The UAE has been among the top 10 FDI investors in India since 2000," Wadhwa said.

Shaikh Mohammad arrives in New Delhi Wednesday evening, and will be received upon arrival by Dharmendra Pradhan, Indian Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas.

Later in the evening, he will receive Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj.

On Thursday, Shaikh Mohammad will inspect a Guard of Honour at the Indian presidential palace, before visiting Raj Ghat, the memorial for Mahatma Gandhi.

He will then receive an official reception at the Presidential Palace and is also scheduled to meet Modi.
