UAE: To mark World Teachers’ Day this year, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) launched an Instagram competition to honour and show appreciation for teachers.

As part of the competition students, parents and teachers were asked to upload a video on Instagram sharing why they appreciate their teachers.

“Teachers play an important role in all of our lives. For World Teachers’ Day this year, we wanted to show teachers how much they are appreciated. Teaching is a profession that has countless rewards,” Hind Al Mualla, Chief of Engagement at KHDA, said.

While shooting the video which has to be in English or Arabic, participants should start the video by saying ‘I appreciate my teacher because’ and continue the sentence as they please.

“By reflecting on how much their teachers mean to them, we hope that young people would consider the teaching profession for their career choice also,” she added.

To be eligible for entry, each post must include @KHDADubai Instagram handle and the hashtag #iAppreciate.

The deadline for uploading a video is October 3. The three winners will be determined by independent judges and the winners will receive prizes that will be announced on Instagram and Twitter on October 6.
