Fridges, washers, cookers and coolers sent to villa in error that he did not order

Dubai: A resident said top-end home appliances were being delivered to him daily – but he never ordered any of them.

Adnan Farhat said he has so far received about four air conditioners, three fridges, two cooking stoves and two washing machines, all made by leading brands.

The 45-year-old Pakistani businessman said shippers insisted he take delivery as his name, address and contact details were on the delivery orders.

“They just showed up at the front door and refused to take it back as they didn’t understand what the problem is. I have kept the items safe in the garage area until this is all sorted out,” Farhat said.

A spokesperson for the company said: “There was a technical glitch at one of our new stores wherein few deliveries got affected. This was an isolated incident, which was identified by our engineers and has been fixed.”

Farhat said: “I’ve informed the police about this so that there are no misunderstandings. They took stock and pictures of the ‘inventory.’

“I don’t want any other delivery guys to reload the items without proper paperwork as I can’t personally ensure they will then go where they are supposed to go.”

He added that the unsolicited deliveries started after he bought new air conditioners for his villa in Al Warqa last week from a leading electronics chain.

“I kept getting calls: ‘Sir, your delivery – AC or fridge or washer – is on the way.’ I try to explain I didn’t order – or pay – for any of this. Soon enough, they show up at the front door.”

The deliveries – of different brands and by different suppliers – were apparently generated by the same electronics chain in error, Farhat said. One of the delivery orders names that chain as the “customer” but provides Farhat’s name and address for delivery.

“Maybe there was a glitch in the company system, I don’t know. It’s doesn’t seem plausible to me that their different suppliers all had me on their delivery list for no reason,” he added.

The items were sent over the course of about eight separate deliveries, added his brother Kamran, 47.

“When I tell people about my experience, they joke: ‘So, what’s the problem?’”

I wonder what the actual customers who ordered these items are doing?Won't they call the company when they did not get the delivery. At thattime can't the company sort out this issue?
