Three gangs arrested, accused of selling fireworks

The suspects were allegedly using M Blackberry Messenger to sell fireworks

Sharjah Police have arrested five people from three different gangs for selling fireworks.

Sharjah: Police have arrested three gangs in separate incidents on charges of trading in fireworks illegally.

Police said the gang was made up of five men of different nationalities. The five were accused of selling fireworks for young men and children in Sharjah.

The arrests followed a tip off to the Criminal Investigation Department in Sharjah Police.

Brigadier Mohammad Eid Al Madhloum, Director-General of Operations at Sharjah Police said the police tracked the suspect and found fireworks in their possession.

The fist two suspects, identified as S.A.S. and A.S.R., admitted to selling the fireworks via Blackberry Messenger, police said.

The second gang of two, was buying fireworks from N.A.D., and selling them to children, police allege

The third gang was found storing a large quantity of fireworks in their possession.

Five men were arrested as a result of the operation. Police seized large quantity of unlicensed fireworks allegedly in their possession at the time of the arrest.
