The Ministry of Education has issued a circular to private schools prescribing compulsory text books for non-Arabic speaking students for the academic year 2002-2003.

First graders up to third graders must learn the ministry's English translation of the Islamic Studies text books.

Grade IV up to grade XII students must study Studies in Islam books by Mawlawi Abdulaziz.

In Arabic language, grade I up to grade VI must learn I Love the Arabic language books as follows:

First and second graders study the first book of the series. Third and fourth graders learn book II while grade V and grade VI students learn book III.

Grade VII students learn Part One of the the Arabic language text and exercise books and Chapter One of the storybook of Grade III in public schools.

Grade VIII students learn Part Two of the the Arabic language text and exercise books and Chapter Two of the storybook of Grade III in public schools.

Grade IX students learn Part One of of the the Arabic language text and exercise books and certain stories of the storybook of Grade V in public schools. This will be applicable only to Grade V in the academic year 2002-2003 because they studied text books of Grade IV in public schools.

Non-Arabic speaking students who wish to equate their certificate with the General Secondary School Certificate and similar Arab students will study Work Book and Modern Arabic books in Grade X to Grade XII.

Grade IV and Grade V students will learn the English translation of Social Studies text book of Grade IV of public schools.

Grade VI and Grade VII students will learn the English translation of Social Studies text book of Grade V of public schools.

Grade VII and Grade VIII students will learn the English translation of Social Studies text book of Grade VI of public schools.

Schools must apply to the Curricula and Educational Material Development Centre to get their requirements of these text books.
