Dubai: After signing up on Facebook last month, Shaikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai is now on Twitter.

'Tweeting' under the name HHShkMohd, he has updated “followers'' on his life in 140-character messages. The tweets include details of the horse races he has attended and updates on the decisions on school terms.

Last Thursday Shaikh Mohammad wrote : “Attended Newmarket racecourse in England and watched UAE horse, Fryvolous, take the honours in the Abu Dhabi Race for Purebred Arabians.''

His account was officially verified by Twitter this week.

Early on Monday morning, Shaikh Mohammad had 1,189 followers and had made 20 updates.

He now joins the list of high-profile tweeters, which includes US president Barack Obama, the British actor Stephen Fry and Tour de France cyclist Lance Armstrong.
