Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Interior is to provide help to more than 15,000 truck drivers and co-drivers stuck on the Al Ghuwaifat border between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, an official told Gulf News yesterday.

He said due to the procedures related to the work system, duties and checking trucks on the Saudi Arabia side, the 25km-long queue had formed. Adding to the delay is a suspension of work by Saudi customs officers.

He said the Ministry of Interior has sent a technical team from the immigration and residency departments in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to assist in completing procedures on the UAE side of the border.

He said the team is equipped with computers and internet services and devices to finish the procedures and sort out the problem on the UAE side.
