Dubai: A man’s body lying in a pool of blood outside a residential tower shocked residents of Silicon Oasis on Sunday morning.

The man, believed to be Syrian, was said to have jumped from the 15th floor of the Springs Tower before 7am on Sunday. Police could not confirm whether it was an accident or a case of suicide at the time of going to press.

The man’s body was found lying near the 25-storey tower’s entrance.

“I was about to go out of the building but security did not allow us to go out because the victim’s body was lying near the entrance of the building,” F.M., who lives on the 20th floor of the tower, told Gulf News.

“The building security told us that the victim was Syrian and he had jumped from the 15th floor of the building,” she added.

Employees in a clinic in front of the tower where the incident happened said the building security covered the body with cloth until police and an ambulance arrived.

“When we reached work this morning, the victim’s body was already on the pavement, but it was covered,” Annie, a nurse, told Gulf News.

“I couldn’t go near him as the place had been cordoned off. It was a scary sight,” she added.
