Dubai: For Hend Al Mutawa, the stakes are high. The Emirati designer is planning the world's highest fashion show on April 14 at At.mosphere on the 122nd level of the Burj Khalifa Tower.

"I was looking for a venue for my debut solo fashion show and figured if I wanted it to be the best show, with the highest level of fashion, why not host in the highest venue in the world? The top of Burj Khalifa," says Al Mutawa, who will be showcasing over 20 abayas from her Nabrman Fashion and Design collection. "For one, there won't be a catwalk or a stage. While 80 VIP invitees sip on afternoon tea, they will be treated to a showcase of designer abayas, with models sashaying in the lounge area of At.mosphere," says the designer who was first featured in XPRESS last year for designing an abaya for Hollywood celebrity Kim Kardashian.

Hosted at 442 metres from the ground floor, Al Mutawa's fashion show has been registered with the Guinness World Records as the world's Highest Fashion Show. "We've done our research and, so far, there appears to have been no other shows orchestrated as high as us," says Al Mutawa. She still needs to wait another four weeks before her entry in the Guinness record is confirmed.

Al Mutawa's latest collection will be available at her Nabrman store in Jumeirah ranging from Dh1,500 to Dh3,000 per abaya.
