Sharjah: The first Sharjah TEDx event will take place at Al Qasba Theatre on Saturday.

TEDxSharjah has “A New Dimension” as its theme, and as any TEDx event, it is independently organised and licensed by TED.

“Our theme is inspired by the city of Sharjah. Sharjah is becoming new and modern while preserving its cultural identity. Likewise, people can discover new dimensions in their lives and careers while being themselves”, Wafa Khalfan, TEDxSharjah Curator, said.

TEDxSharjah is the first UAE TEDx event to have American and Emirati sign language translations during the event to enable those with hearing difficulties cope up with the discussions.

The TEDxSharjah speakers lineup includes Shaikh Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Thani, Director-General of Sharjah Statistics Centre, as well as an enterpreneur, photographer and traveler.

Captain Aysha Al Hamili, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the Council of The International Civil Aviation Organization(ICAO), Kevin Abdulrahman, motivational and leadership speaker, Praveen Vettiyattil, Director of Renewable Energy at Industrial Engineering and General Contracting (IEGC) in UAE and Naoko Kishida, establisher of the “UAE-Japan Cultural Center” will also attend.
