Abu Dhabi: UAE national Nasser Habibi walked 100km from Abu Dhabi airport to Dubai Internet City to raise awareness about special needs people for Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre.

“Special needs children are not disabled, they are just differently-abled. We should give them a chance to integrate more into the society, work in the community, and express their potential and talents,” Habibi, 32, a senior relationship manager in Mashreq Bank, told Gulf News.

Habibi, who started out on Friday at 12.30pm with his nephew and friend, was handed a cheque for Dh50, 000 from Mashreq Bank for Rashid Centre.

“It is very heart-warming to know that you are walking for a good cause. This is my seventh time and I am hoping it will be a big success to help differently- abled people fight their discouraging label,” he added.

Charity walks are a great way to get someone to exercise while raising awareness for a cause.

“Around Dh300 000 was raised earlier in order to help tsunami victims in several countries, autistic people, and support charity organisations,” he said.
