du launches song contest for National Day

Residents need to submit poems that will be reworked into a national song

Dubai: Du have called on the people of the UAE to help write a new song in celebration of National Day.

The special competition, launched on Thursday by du (Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company), is titled ‘A song written by the people of the Emirates’.

The final song, compiled from entries to the competition, will be presented as a gift to the UAE to mark the 41st National Day on December 2.

Du has invited UAE residents to a write a poem that will be reworked into a national song and presented on behalf of the people to the country.

The poem will be reworked by acclaimed poet Ali Al Khor, composed by singer Fayes Al Saeed and sung by Emirati Arab Idol contestant Shamaa Hamdan.

The last day to send entries for the competition is November 20.

Eight winners will be selected by a judging panel on November 28. They will each win an iPad mini and their entries will form the National Day song.
