Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, in his capacity as Chairman of Dubai Municipality, on Sunday issued a decision setting up a committee to name Dubai streets, chaired by Hussain Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality.
Seeking help from social figures, dignitaries and experts, the new panel will suggest street names that reflect the history and culture of the emirate, according to the decision.
Review
Dubai Municipality will review the suggestions to select the most suitable names recommended by the committee, which shall be a consultative body.
The committee will present its selection of street names with a map showing the locations of streets to the Municipality's director general, who will approve the names and refer them to the Executive Committee, which will in turn coordinate implementation with the Roads and Transport Authority.
Members of the committee include Abdul Rahman Saif Ahmad Al Ghurair, Butti Saeed Mohammad Al Kindi and others.
