Popular Dubai radio jockey Kritika Rawat has resigned from City 101.6 FM.

“Yes, I have quit. August 20 will be my last show on air,'' the host of radio programme English Breakfast Desi Mem said. “I have been doing radio for over six years now. It's my first and last love. That said, I reckon it's time to move on. I am looking for new challenges.''

Kritika said she has been offered a TV show, but refused to divulge details. “It's too early to talk about it because I don't know whether it will materialise or not,'' she said.

Unconfirmed reports said Kritika, currently serving the notice period, resigned as she was not getting along with her bosses.

Possible tiff

Sources at the radio station said her resignation was inevitable. “She was not getting along well with the management. I saw her weeping uncontrollably after a spat with one of the bosses recently,'' an insider revealed to XPRESS.

Arguably City 101.6 FM's most popular RJ, Kritika has a massive fan following in the UAE. Every morning, thousands of listeners tune in to her breakfast show.

Steve Smith, Chief Operating Officer of the radio station's parent entity Arabian News Network, confirmed her resignation: “It's incredibly gruelling to host a show for so long. Kritika did a great job all these years.'' He said the radio station is considering “various options'' as her replacement.

Rumours had said Kritika's husband, City 101.6 RJ Gaurav, had also resigned, but Steve rubbished it: “That's not true. Gaurav is still part of our future plans,'' he said
