Dubai: A spokesman for the British Embassy in Dubai on Tuesday told Gulf News that travel advice was under constant review.

Simon Goldsmith, Second Secretary of Political and Media Affairs at the British Embassy in Dubai, said: "We continue to advise British travellers and residents to maintain a level of security awareness, particularly in public places. However, we are not advising British nationals to change their travel plans."

The US Embassy in Abu Dhabi on Monday issued a reminder to American citizens in the UAE to maintain a high level of personal security awareness.

A spokesman at the embassy told Gulf News: "Our existing worldwide caution, last updated on January 17, 2008, provides an assessment of threat and recommendations for good security vigilance.

"We have not changed our assessment of the threat; the existing worldwide caution remains in effect. We believe that circumstances warranted a reminder to our citizens to maintain a high level of personal security awareness."
