Toyota agent in the UAE told to submit copy of technical report

Abu Dhabi: The Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology has asked the Toyota agent in the UAE to submit a copy of the technical report of a case involving a malfunctioning cruise control system.

The action follows an accident on Emirates Road after a 2009 model Land Cruiser lost control at a speed of 120km/h.

The authority is checking for any similar malfunctions in other vehicles to take up the matter with the manufacturer.

Eng Mohammad Saleh Badri. Director-General of the authority, said safety and security are undisputed priorities.

He added that the authority has strategic partnerships with the ministrys of interior and economy.
