A private hospital is organising an anti-smoking awareness programme for children to mark the World No-Tobacco Day tomorrow . The campaign, targeting adolescents, will be organised by Ahalia Hospital at its premises at 9:30 p.m. The event is open for the public to join in the campaign.

The World No-Tobacco Day, launched in 1987, is celebrated around the world every year on May 31 to make people aware about dangers and health risks linked to tobacco use.

This year's theme, according to Dr Rajeev Gupta, Cardiologist at the hospital, is 'Tobacco Free Sports-Play It Clean'. "The campaign is intended to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco, to heighten concern about the marketing and advertising of tobacco products through sports and to promote participation in sports as a healthy alternative to the use of tobacco," said Dr Gupta.
