Sharjah: A 22-year-old Pakistani woman succumbed to fatal injuries on early Monday sustained in a run-over accident in the Industrial Area of Sharjah, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News.
The accident took place at around 3.30am.
The police operation room received a call reporting the incident.
Police patrols and paramedics moved immediately to the scene of the incident where the woman, identified as A.F.R., was pronounced dead.
Police investigations revealed that the woman was run over by a car driven by a 34-year-old Emirati identified as E.I.B.
The man was under the influence of alcohol when the incident took place, an official said.
The body of the deceased was moved to Al Qasimi Hospital around 5am while the motorist who caused the accident sustained fractures in his hip and has been admitted to Al Qasimi Hospital. He was placed in police custody.
Police investigation is ongoing.
