Dubai: A van went up in flames near the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) on Monday afternoon.

Fire crews from the Dubai Civil Defence were seen fighting the blaze early in the afternoon.

A Dubai Civil Defence (DCD) spokesperson told Gulf News they received the fire alert about the incident at 1.02pm and the first responders reached the site at 1.09pm.

The vehicle caught fire on a service road off the main Shaikh Zayed Road on the Sharjah-bound side.

"Our firefighters managed to put it out at 1.13pm. No injuries were reported. Afterwards, we handed over the site to the Dubai Police for investigation to establish the cause," the spokesperson told Gulf News

The official also reminded drivers to carry the prescribed fire-extinguishers on board their vehicles.

Moreover, the official urged people to avoid gathering around incidents sites to give emergency workers quicker access and do their job to protect public safety.
