Sharjah: Two Asian men died after being run over in separate accidents in Sharjah road on Monday, police said.
In the first incident, a 24-year-old municipality worker died after being run over while he was sweeping the road.
The cleaner was collecting garbage when he was hit by a speeding car on Al Dhaid Road.
The man was admitted to Al Dhaid Hospital where he died shortly after admission.
Police are investigating the case and the driver who caused the accident has been taken into police custody.
In another incident, a 21-year-old Pakistani man died after a speeding vehicle ran over him while he was crossing the road at Al Weshah roundabout. He was crossing from an undesignated crossing area.
The Sharjah Police operations room received a report that a man had been run over.
Police patrols and an ambulance rushed to the scene of the incident to find that the victim had died.
The body of the victim was moved to Al Dhaid Hospital while the driver who caused the incident has been taken into police custody for questioning.
Police launched an investigation into the incident.
