Ras Al Khaimah/Sharjah: An 18-year-old was killed after his vehicle veered off the road and overturned on Saturday night on a road in Ras Al Khaimah.

Lieutenant Colonel Ahmad Al Sumi, acting director of traffic and patrols department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the deceased, identified as A. A. S., was driving from Hatta toward Al Muna’ai to Hatta when his car suddenly veered out of the lane and overturned.

The Emirati teenager was with two Emirati passengers, N.K.A., 15, and H. S.M., 17. The police operation room received a call about the incident and Police patrols and paramedics moved immediately to the scene and transferred the driver to the nearest hospital where he was pronounced dead. The two passengers sustained minor injuries, Lt Col Al Sumi said,

Lt Col Al Sumi urged motorists to abide by speed limits on the road and pay attention while driving.

Meanwhile, in Sharjah, at least two passengers were killed and one seriously injured when their car collided with the pavement and then rammed into a truck parked on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News.

All the victims were of Yemeni nationality.

The police operation room received a call at around 9.30am reporting the incident.

Police found three people in the car — two brothers and their friend.

One of the brothers, who was sitting in the front passenger seat and identified as A.K.M., 21, and their friend, identified as M.A.A., 20, died on the spot while the driver, who was identified as M.K.M., 22, was seriously injured.

Police said the accident occurred due to speeding. The driver lost control and rammed into a parked truck.

The bodies have been transferred to the morgue while the injured is receiving treatment at Al Qasimi Hospital.

Sharjah Police have urged drivers to respect speed limits.
