Dubai: A family in Ras Al Khaimah had to be rescued after they suffered from severe sunstroke and were left stuck on top of a mountain.

Wing Commander Saeed Rashid Al Yamahi, Head of the Air Wing at the Special Operations Department of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said on Tuesday that an Emirati family contacted the Operations Room requesting for immediate assistance.

All six members of the family were stuck on top of a mountain, 4,000 feet above sea level, and were reportedly dehydrated and suffering from sunstroke.

The incident occurred on top of Ras Al Khaimah’s Matrah Mountain.

A helicopter was then dispatched to locate the stranded family, who were lost within the high mountainous terrain.  

According to Al Yamahi, the rescue mission as carried out in almost four hours and all family members were transferred to Saqr Hospital, where they received first aid.
