Dubai: A six-car collision has resulted in the death of a UAE national and injuries to four others at the intersection of the Dubai Bowling Centre in Al Quoz on Tuesday.

Maj Gen Engr Mohammad Al Jasem, Director of the General Department of Traffic of Dubai Police, told Gulf News that the accident took place at around 8.30pm on Tuesday when a speeding 4-wheel vehicle coming from Al Khail Road hit the Emirati victim’s sedan car which was stopped at a traffic light at the Dubai Bowling Centre intersection.

Due to the impact of the collision, the sedan car was pushed forward which forced it to collide with two other cars and caused the death of the Emirati.

The 4-wheel vehicle driver also hit another two cars on the road.

Four people were injured following the six-car collision. The driver of the Nissan Patrol, an Emirati in his 20s, suffered severe injuries and is currently in hospital for treatment. Three other men injured in the accident were also admitted to hospital. The cause of the accident is still being investigated as there is speculation on how it took place despite the existence of multiple signals at the intersection,

The driver will be tested to determine whether he was driving under the influence at the time.
