Dubai: Motorists in Abu Dhabi should plan their journey in advance on Wednesday, as firefighters are scheduled to tackle the 88-storey Burj Mohammad Bin Rashid Tower.
The Ministry of Interior has announced that Abu Dhabi’s Civil Defence will be carrying out a fire drill on October 25 at 9am, which may lead to “a possibility of disruption or delay on some roads and streets surrounding the tower as a result of the exercise.”
The tower, also known as the Residences at Abu Dhabi World Trade Centre, is the tallest tower in the emirate and the fourth tallest in the UAE.
Located on Khalifa Bin Zayed the First Street, Burj Mohammad Bin Rashid stands at 382 metres high, and includes 474 residential units set on 92 floors.
The exercise is set to measure the readiness of civil defence teams and its designated partners in countering accidents and emergencies.
Gulf News previously reported that Abu Dhabi’s Civil Defence will be carrying out a serious of evacuation drills as part of its 2017 annual strategic plan, which falls in line with the Ministry of Interior’s strategy in achieving top prevention and safety measures.
It also ensures the preparedness and efficiency of civil defence teams in dealing with accidents or catastrophes and enhances the public trust in the effectiveness and efficiency of services provided by the civil defence.
