Sharjah: Sharjah Police on Monday launched the latest amphibious bikes which can be used while responding to accident sites.

The five rapid response bikes will improve accident response time, the police said.

The bike can be used on land and sea, and will be especially effective in cases involving drowning and transporting the injured to ambulances. Sharjah Police say the bikes have a quick response and are equipped with the latest technology.

Lt Col Ali Al Jallaf, head of ambulance and rescue department, inaugurated the new amphibious bikes.

The bikes will be stationed on Sharjah beaches to deal with emergency cases.

These bikes also can be used in the desert as they can be used on sand dunes as well as for sporting events to rescue the injured.

Lt Col Al Jallaf praised efforts in improving the service sectors at the state level that are up to world standards as per the directives of the UAE leadership.

A number of senior police officers and paramedics attended the ceremony.
