Dubai: Passengers on board a British Airways flight to Dubai from London Heathrow on Wednesday were left terrified after a fellow passenger screamed that he had “a bomb” and that “everyone was going to die”.
Details of the horror flight were first picked up by British tabloid the Daily Mail after former Virgin radio presenter Steve Pent, whose daughter Natalie was on flight, tweeted about it.
The male passenger had to be subdued and handcuffed, according to Pent, relaying his daughter’s experience. The incident happened five hours into the flight.
Pent, in his series of tweets, said the male passenger “went berserk”, terrifying the other passengers on board.
It took five crew members aided by another passenger to restrain the man, who was covered in a blanket after being handcuffed. The accused “was literally screaming and shouting he couldn’t breathe”, Pent tweeted.
British Airways confirmed the incident in an email to Gulf News.
“Our customers and crew deserve to enjoy their flights, and not to suffer any form of abuse. This sort of behaviour will absolutely not be tolerated, and the appropriate action will always be taken,” British Airways said.
