Dubai: Passengers aboard a Pakistan-bound plane from Abu Dhabi have narrowly escaped a major air mishap when strong winds damaged a portion of the aircraft's fuel tank.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-281 was on its way to Karachi when the outer layer of the fuel tank was ripped off by strong winds.
The pilot, however, managed to maneuver the aircraft so that it could make it safely to its destination. The passengers were also asked to evacuate the plane to ensure their safety.
Several media reports, which quoted airport authorities claimed that the plane was already mid-air when the incident happened.
The plane landed safely in Bacha Khan International Airport without further incident.
