Sharjah: A 20-year-old Emirati man died in an accident involving two vehicles on Maleeha–Al Dhaid Road in Sharjah on Thursday evening.

Col Haran Mubarak Al Jazai, Acting Director of Police for Eastern Region said that the Emirati man, identified as A.M.A. lost control of his car, sending it crashing into another vehicle, before colliding with a concrete barrier.

The vehicle overturned several times before settling on the side of the road, causing the death of the driver. The accident happened at around 8.15pm.

The deceased was stuck inside the mangled vehicle and the Civil Defence workers had to use hydraulic rescue tools to retrieve his body.

The driver was pronounced dead on the spot and his body was moved to Al Dhaid Hospital.

Col Al Jazai said that initial investigations revealed that the accident occurred due to a sudden manoeuvre. The case has been referred to the public prosecution.

Sharjah Police have urged all motorists to drive carefully and adhere to speed limits.

Meanwhile, an Emirati woman identified as F.A. died in Khat area of Ras Al Khaimah on Thursday afternoon while she was driving her vehicle.

Police said that investigation showed that the woman’s blood pressure level dropped while she was driving, as a result of which her vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a tree causing her death.

Her body was taken to the hospital where doctors confirmed that she died due to low blood pressure.
