Sharjah: A 19-year-old Pakistani man died on Wednesday after his car veered off the road and hit the pavement in Sharjah, an official said on Wednesday.

The police received a report about the accident around 5.30am.

The Pakistani driver identified as A.H.A.A. died of injuries while three passengers were taken to Al Qasimi Hospital around 6am for treatment.

The passengers aged were between 17 and 22, the police said, adding that two of them sustained critical injuries.

Earlier, Sharjah Police had said that road deaths in the emirate dropped by 15 per cent from the beginning of this year until the end of June, compared with the corresponding period last year.

The police said the number of deaths decreased due to traffic awareness campaigns in the emirate.
