Ras Al Khaimah: A 20-year-old man was killed after his vehicle hit  two stray camels in Ras Al Khaimah on Wednesday night, according to police.

Colonel Ali Elkum, Director of Traffic  and Patrol Department of Ras Al Khaimah police, said the police operations room received a call on  Wednesday night reporting the incident.

Police said that the young Emirati, identified as A.A., was driving on one of the internal roads when his vehicle hit the two stray camels crossing the road.

The young man was driving his vehicle possibly at high speed, said police, when his vehicle hit the camels.

The driver tried to avoid the collision but failed. The driver was killed on the spot due to the impact of the collision. The camels were also killed, Col.Elkum  said.

The body of the deceased was handed over to his family for burial.

Col.Elkum urged road users to abide by speed limits for their safety and the safety of others.
